Lollipop is the newest OTT platform to join the Bandwagon
OTT platforms are being touted as the future rulers in the entertainment Industry and they are proving themselves so. They have been giving the theatre halls run for money for many years now as more and more people shifting their choices of medium to these platforms preferring home comfort over theatre halls. The Covid-19 pandemic has now pushed this shift yet harder. Now the good news for the audience is that another such Platform is gearing up to enter the fray with a promise to cater popular genres of content to the audience. The name of this brand new OTT platform has been given ‘Lollipop’.
The company behind the initiative is Almighty Tech films which is based in Mumbai. According to sources Lollipop will get launched during early 2021 and the contents will be India centric and will have Pan India appeal. In the first phase Lollipop will focus on the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh , Rajasthan ,Uttarakhand ,Gujarat & Bengal. In the next phase they will attempt to cover Orissa and Assam.
Chief content officer Arshad Ashfaque Khan said, ““Popular entertainment, Crime Infotainment, Erotica & Sex Education will be the main pillars on which the content strategy will rest. It’s a first of its kind app which will only cater to 18 plus audience who can't afford expensive subscription and are not satisfied with the free content available on youtube etc."
Reportedly Lollipop will start with 11 original Webs series. Among those 8 is going be in Hindi Language, 2 in Bojhpuri and 1 in Punjabi Language.
If inside reports are to be believed the subscription rate will be around Rs 180 per year.
Bohra Bros Production which has previously produced popular film like Gangs of Wasseypur, Shahid, Saitan, Tanu Weds Manu has already tied up with the platform for the production of two projects.
